USAID - VEP in Georgia
 

USAID’s Vocational Education Project in Georgia (VEP) is a two-year workforce development project designed to develop and expand vocational training to meet labor market demand in the tourism and
construction sectors in Georgia.

The objectives of the Vocational Education Project in Georgia are to:
 
  • Increase the number of tourism and construction trades graduates trained to international standards from five vocational education centers;and
  • Improve the sustainability of the five centers through public-private sector partnerships and established business management/development models.

Technical assistance provided to designated Vocational Education Training Centers (VECs) includes:
 
  • Providing curricula improvements and professional development that are responsive to labor market trends;
  • Involving key public and private sector stakeholders who advise the VECs on labor market trends and employment opportunities; 
  • Reinforcing recognized professional and curriculum standards; 
  • Strengthening the skills of VEC managers and instructors to offer training and employment services; 
  • Raising the status of vocational education programs and graduates;and 
  • Testing innovative methodologies and curricula which promote gender equity and energy efficiency.

The goal of the USAID Vocational Education Project is to train Georgians to fill Georgian jobs.
